Anticipation!

According to UPS, my Vintage Club "My Girl" should be here tomorrow, along with the Glitterati that I ordered with her.  I'm hoping for alabaster, or bay - the palomino at least in the pictures didn't do anything for me.  Looked more like a chestnut gone wrong.

Moose!

Finally, last month, after lots of eBay searching - I found a Moose at last.  Yay!!

Hobby goals 2016

Goals for 2016

- To at least dip back into photo showing, either online or mail-in.  That requires getting a site for photo work, getting the old PC running so I can have Paint Shop Pro again, and unpacking at least a few horses.

- Dig through the collection and see if there's anything to re-home.

- Work on display options.  I would like/love to have a china cabinet or curio cabinet of some kind, so that the breakable stuff can finally stop living in boxes where I can't see them.

The wish list
  • a HR Kelso
  • Breyer Elk, Antelope, and Bears.  I managed last year to find the Moose, Bighorn Sheep and Dall Sheep, Elephant, and both Jolly Cholly and the brown Bloodhound.
  • Too many more to name
  • The full set of original Love Racehorses.  I have Kelso and Swaps, I think.  Need Terrang, Silky Sullivan, and Man O'War.

Score!! SR Kelso

I lucked into this beauty on eBay this month.  Breyer Classic Kelso, a SR from 1987 for a toy store.  He was part of a set of Triple Crown winners - Kelso being Citation, with Terrang as Count Fleet and Silky Sullivan as Whirlaway.

He's very dusty, or was until I cleaned him up, but overall is in good shape.  A few little dings here and there, but for his age and rarity, I got a good deal.

Bought on eBay.  Name may refer to "Fortunate Son" (the episode of Enter prise I was watching when he arrived) or to the fact that I' lucky he got here without extra charges (for using a Priority Express box) or damage (he's tippy and fell off the PC while I took this picture).

Storm is here

UPS delivered my Storm last week.  Overall, not bad, but the spots are a conundrum.  Part of them match the Stud Spider blanket, but are intentionally fuzzy, almost like they were glossed before the paint dried.  But then there are smaller spots, done apparently by hand, that are perfectly crisp.  Neither of which match the promo picture, but if they'd gone with either fuzzy or crisp, it would've been an improvement over the mishmash they used.

On the up side, no more ghost eyes.  Just bendy legs.

Farah

My Farah arrived last week, along with a Warehouse Pacer that I added in.

Farah
She's lovely, overall.  Still with the splay foot, and either from age or overzealous mold cleaning, or just lost-in-the-whiteness, she's lost a lot of her mold detail.  I put her next to an old glossy alabaster PAM that I got earlier this year.  The older mare has more detailing on the cannon bones, and lots more around the head - facial veins, forelock, that kind of thing.

But, Farah is a gorgeous shade of caramelly palomino, with a pinto pattern almost identical to Yellow Mount (extra leg white on Farah, mainly).  And her eyes aremuch, MUCH better than most of my other Vintage Club  horses so far.  They're not perfect, but they aren't the pale grey ghost-eyes, either.

It's time to renew for the Vintage Club, and I need to decide whether to go for another year or not.  Next year's molds are:

  • Man O'War in a glossy charcoal with Stud Spider's Appaloosa pattern
  • Lady Phase and the Action Stock Foal in old-style red roan (my favorite color, possibly)
  • Western Prancer in a glossy black or grey dapple
  • Cantering Welsh Pony, gambler's choice of 3 colors that look like alabaster, honey bay, and palomino from the original Family Arabians
I'm probably going to go for another year; Man o'War is the only one I'm not crazy about, but I love the red roan, and the Prancer, and the CWP in FAS colors could be amazing.   I haven't sold any of my VC horses, or any Breyers at all to speak of, but as soon as the Shelf Project is finished, I may be parting with a few more.  And a couple of VCs that I'm not in love with could be moving on.

Or not.  I'm not joking when I compare my collection to a black hole.

There goes the wagon

I haven't bought many Breyers lately, but I just fell off the wagon and it's heading away from me.

First, there was the Vintage Club Sailor last week.  Right after he gets here, with a pair of new SMs, Murphy is ready to order, and I managed to add a SM set and the 4th of July grab bag to that order.

Now I get the email that Tallulah is ready to pay for; if I'd held off paying for Murphy, I could have combined the shipping.  Oh well.  Then I just won a couple of auctions online - one for a pair of foals, one for a mixed lot of Breyers, Schleiches, and random goofy chinas.  And Back in the Saddle had the Esprit Xmas horse for $19.99.  Put it in my cart two days ago and decided to hold off.  They emailed me today, free shipping if I order now.  So Xmas Esprit is on the way, along with the Spirit of the West set, also $19.99.

Good grief.
