Belize

Well, I may not ever get the variants of the Breyerfest Stablemates, but I got picked todahy to buy a Belize, the latest in the World Destinations series (or whatever they're calling it).  Sham in a blue ocean color.

Breyerfest 2026

Well, the last of the Breyerfest boxes has finally arrived.  Flinka arrived first, then the Breyer Classic and Best of Breyerfest SM set.  Then the BF pickup, and last but not least my actual Breyerfest SRs.

Both of my SM Hygges were the regular dun version, no deco varation for me.  Did get the bell-tail Mule thanks to my pickup from Chelsea's Model Horses, and a lovely Elk.   The 4-piece one-day SM set got sold out of my cart, so later I bought two of the individuals.  Got a pair of Keflavik, the blue and red new laying mare.  Managed to trade one for Copenhagen (the red and white Belgian) and one for Upsalla (the blue and yellow semi-rearing mustang).  Still want the blue Django, but since the mold is tippy and that's the most popular one right now (selling for $80 and up), I may live without it for a while.

For the Special Runs, I got Wanderer and the matte champagne Scandi Surprise.  Didn't have a Vermeer, so this will be my horse on that mold.  The color is nice, and the mottled muzzle isn't horribly distracting.

I do like the blue ponies.

I like the new reclining mare, but I'm okay with swapping both of them for Copenhagen and Upsalla (Upsala?).  I'll eventually get the pinto version from the TSC blind bags.

Flinka is a great Fjord color, and they did a great job with her.  I need to line her up with my Astrid and Rapunzel for a group shot.

El Dorado is here

My luck continues -  El Dorado is the newest addition to the Blue Horse herd.

Not the best picture, but I can't get to the big light box, and he won't fit the small one.

The Collector Club Premiere version

So, I went with my usual two Collector Club memberships for this year, and with the promise of a mini version of the Semi Rearing Mustang, I apparently went with Premier levels for both.  So I got two of the mini Mustang sets.  Luckily,  not duplicates, and both blue versions - Wedgwood and Copenhagen!!  More ponies for the Blue Herd.

The big estate sale find

This might be my biggest find ever at a sale, even bigger than my chalky Donkey.

To set the stage - there was a massive estate sale in town this past month.  Seriously massive - the house was so full that they had to hold four separate sales, over about six weeks.  One sale was 3 days and just the books from the house.  They weren't hoarders, but they were massive accumulators of stuff.  The husband and wife were both artists and art teachers, and they liked everything.

I did go to the books-only sale, and found a few horse books.  The first version of Justin Morgan Had a Horse, a Jeanne Mellin book, C.W. Anderson's A Touch of Greatness, and the World Book of Dogs, plus two Rick Brant mysteries and an old issue of Asimov's magazine.  None in the greatest shape, but I thought they were worth the $6 each that this company wants for vintage books.

That was the appetizer.  This past week they had the final sale (I missed the first two), and there were a couple of Breyers in the preview pictures, plus a pair of ceramic Art Deco animals. The Breyers were an alabaster Semi-rearing Mustang, and the original USET trio. Luckily, the sale started on Wednesday, and I didn't have to work on Wednesday (although it was the last day of school for the year, so I had to do the school pick-up at 12:30 instead of 3:30).  I went over to the sale location early, to pick up a line number, and then went back and got there about half an hour after the sale opened, with the teenager in tow.

First order of business was to find the Art Deco animals.  They were much larger than I expected, but that made the $40/each price easier to justify.  I carried one in each hand, and went looking for the Breyers.  The house was like a maze, most of the rooms connected so you could go in a big circle.  Found the Breyers, but the Mustang was missing his tail and part of both ears (priced at $8).  USET horses were in similar shape for $4 each, but I did find a ceramic Made in Japan horse for $4.  We looked around inside and found a few other things, then paid for the finds and went outside to look at the rest of the sale.  They had two tents/canopies, plus a garage and an overhang/porch area and other nooks and crannies.

And there, in the last outdoor nook, I spotted a clear acrylic Don Manning "Artistic Doe"!!  For only $3!!!  Grabbed her PDQ and looked around hoping for the Buck as well, but no luck.  Oh well.  I've been looking for those for a long time, and wasn't really clear about whether I was looking for something Trad sized, SM sized, or what.  Now I know.

A hunting scene, done in metallic something-or-other.

The large pink ram? Bighorn sheep?

Small Made in Japan or China horse, about Classic scale.  One broken and repaired hind leg.

The scale of these three.  Blue deer is about 2 feet tall, pink sheep-critter is about 18 inches.

The Doe!!  She is stamped Don Manning on one hind leg.

Massive deer-critter, with photobombing by Modernistic Doe.

More new horses

UPS delivered both of the post-Breyerfest boxes today.  Rapunzel, Franz, Chablis, and two Rotating Drafts - I ended up with the dapple gray pinto and the buckskin pinto, both matte.  Might try to trade the dapple gray for the blue pinto.

And, I ordered one of the TSC exclusives, Jolene, online.  The website says it's available for curbside pickup here, but the store didn't have any out when I drove up yesterday.  So, I ordered it.  The blue FFA horse and the blind bag SMs aren't in stock, so I'll wait on those.  It's okay, I should get my TSC birthday coupon next week.  I just didn't want to risk Jolene selling out - I'm a fan of the Lady Phase in any tail, and a giant sucker for a dilute, especially a dunalino.

Breyerfest - the Second Chance sale

So, I may have set an alarm on my phone to remind me of the Second Chance sale.  And I may have then gotten on the internet from the basement of the library, and made two more orders of the Breyerfest Prost! leftovers.

I ended up with one order of Franz and a Rotating Draft, and a second order with Chablis, Rapunzel, and a second Rotating Draft.  Franz, Chablis, and Rapunzel are all molds that I don't own yet, and Franz has a double attraction because he's blue, and I've got this growing collection of blue horses that started accidentally.  Needless to say, I'm also hoping for the blue pinto Rotating Draft.
